Rahul Dravid was born on 11 January 1973 in Indore Madhya Pradesh. His father’s name is Sharad Dravid and mother’s name is Pushpa Dravid. His full name is Rahul Sharad Dravid. His brother’s name is Vijay Dravid who is younger than Rahul Dravid, both brothers. He grew up in a simple middle class environment. Dravid’s father G.E. Used to work for electric. Rahul Dravid started playing cricket at the age of 12, and represented his state at the under-15, under-17 and under-19 levels. Dravid’s talent was noticed by former cricketer Keki Tarapore, who was coaching at a summer testing camp at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Rahul scored a century for his school team, batting as well as wicket-keeping, though later he did the former. On the advice of Test players Gundappa Vishwanath, Roger Binny, Brijesh Patel, and Tarapore, they stopped wicketkeeping. He was selected to make his Ranji Trophy debut against Maharashtra in Pune in 1991 while still studying at St. Joseph’s College in Bangalore.
